Two of the premier academic ranking publications once again included Shippensburg University among those selected.

Shippensburg is listed in America’s Best Colleges, an annual publication compiled by U.S. News and World Report. This year, Shippensburg was tied for 56th among all universities in the North region.

The Princeton Review, in its The Best Northeastern Colleges, lists Shippensburg as one of its 222 outstanding colleges and universities.

The rankings reinforce “Shippensburg continues to offer an outstanding education,” said Interim President Jody Harpster, who also acknowledged the efforts of the campus community and the pride they take in their university.

The U.S. News rankings are based on data gathered in fifteen areas related to academic excellence and rankings against peer institutions. To make its selections, The Princeton Review surveyed 58,000 students on a variety of questions ranging from teaching ability of professors to campus food, and a group pertaining to themselves, fellow students, and campus life.

In Princeton’s League

The Grove College of Business is one of 45 colleges and universities The Princeton Review is adding to its 2007 Best Business Schools in the Nation. Schools are selected on criteria in three areas: regard for academic programs and other offerings; collected institutional data; and opinions of students attending the schools.

According to Robert Franek, vice president/publisher of The Princeton Review, “We are very pleased to feature Shippensburg in our book. We highly commend it to readers of the book and users of our website as one of the best institutions they could attend to earn an MBA.”

“We have worked hard on our strategic efforts in recent years,” said Dr. Stephen J. Holoviak, dean of the college. “The curriculum has been reformed, new programs added, and new community outreach programs, like a Small Business Development Center, added. We are celebrating our 25th anniversary of being an AACSB accredited school and 35 years as a college of business this coming year. This honor just makes the celebration that much better.”
