Any runner knows the value of a good pair of training shoes. When junior elementary education major and member of the cross country team Allison Rineer read about One World Running in a recent issue of Runner’s World, she knew she had to do something.
That something is collecting used running shoes that through One World Running go to athletes around the world.
“I’m always looking for something I can do to help at college and when I read about this organization that collects used running shoes and ships them to people who are in need, I really liked the idea,” Allison said.
She has placed collection boxes at various locations on campus including the field house and the CUB and may expand into Shippensburg. If donated shoes are worn beyond use, they are recycled into playground equipment.
“It’s a great cause and there’s no money involved. All it is is getting rid of stinky shoes.”

Stinky shoes smell sweet to Allison Rineer, a junior elementary education major and cross country runner, who is collecting used athletic shoes for One World Running.
