If there’s a summer traffic jam in Shippensburg, it must be move-in day for new students! Campus became a hive of activity as incoming students descended on campus along with their parents, family, and friends. Not to mention tons of “stuff.” They were met on campus by an army of volunteers who helped take the necessities of campus living to the rooms students would be calling home.
One volunteer, a bit restricted by recent hip surgery, was President Bill Ruud who had been looking forward to move-in day for months.
In a few short hours, students were busy arranging (and rearranging) their rooms, exploring campus, and participating in orientation events. At the same time, their family and friends were returning home with vehicles far emptier than when they started.
Excited by his first move-in day, President Bill Ruud, in the red shirt and cap, enjoyed meeting, and helping, many of the students who will be calling Ship their home for the next four years or so. Recent hip surgery prevented the president from helping as much as he wanted to.

Everywhere you looked on campus, people of all ages were carrying things. These things were the items our incoming freshmen feel will make their residence hall room feel like home.
