Shippensburg around the world
Ireland

Recent grads and former roommates, Tim Dougherty, Kyle Shenk, and Kevin Walter also share a liking for things Irish. In July they boarded a plane to hike the DingleWay, a walking route of 112 miles in County Kerry that follows old tracks, mountain trails, and green roads, often along the foothills of the mountains. Following markers, the group hiked anywhere from 15 to 32 km per day to reach the next bed and breakfast usually located in a small town or village. At one point, they decided to pay homage to SU and a local Shippensburg establishmentMaxie’s. Clockwise: Pam Todd, Kyle Shenk, Kevin Walter, Tim Dougherty, and Steph Prokopall Class of 2006.
Hawaii

A golf course on the Kona coast of the big island of Hawaii and the Pacific Ocean provide a beautiful backdrop for Melinda Showers-Lewis ’10 and Joe Wagner ’09. Lena Showers-Lewis ’92 notes Joe is wearing a Ship Track & Field t-shirt along with his SU hat.
Mexico

While on vacation at Chichen Itza in Mexico this June, Tim ’82 and Barbara (Esch) ’84-’89m Peachey with children Sarah, a high school senior, and Ben, a freshman, discovered an SU connection. Seems Ben’s shirt caught the eye of some fellow tourists at their resort in the Maya Riveria who, it turns out, have a son in the 2007 freshman class. As Barbara reports, “It truly is a small world!”
Beijing

Randy Querry ’89 says, “When traveling, I enjoy exploring my surroundings through running. This enables me to relieve stress, see the cities in greater detail (scope out restaurants), and attempt to stay somewhat fit.” In August, while in Beijing, China on business, an eight-mile run took him through Tian’anmen Square and The Forbidden City. “Clearly I will not be participating in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games!”
