The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation awarded a three-year $276,000 grant to the Juvenile Court Judges’ Commission to support the hiring of an aftercare specialist. The specialist will help develop model approaaches, provide statewide training, technical assistance and support, and assist counties in providing aftercare services.

Quality aftercare planning and services are keys to ensuring a successful transition to the community for a delinquent child who is returning from residential placement,” said James E. Anderson, JCJC executive director. “The aftercare specialist who joins our staff through the funding support of the MacArthur Foundation will be providing on-site technical assistance and support to juvenile courts throughout the Commonwealth. The unique partnership between the JCJC and the university has once again made it possible for us to address an issue of critical importance to our juvenile justice system.”
