Alumni Humanitarian Award
This award was established to honor an alumnus/a of Shippensburg and a member of the campus community in recognition of his/her direct impact on diversity and cultural experiences of students on campus. Recipients of this award exemplify a commitment to the growth of human understanding and freely give of their time and effort to support the academic success and retention of multicultural students at Shippensburg University. The awards are presented during Homecoming weekend.
Outstanding Young Alumnus Award
This award is presented to a graduate who is forty-years old or younger in recognition of their outstanding achievement in his/her field of endeavor for the benefit of the community and society. The award is presented for achievement in the following areas: public service, business, and education. The awards are presented during winter commencement.
Jesse S. Heiges Distinguished Alumnus Award
The Jesse S. Heiges Distinguished Alumnus Award is presented to an alumnus/a in recognition of distinguished achievement in his/her field of endeavor for the benefit of the community and society. Awards are made to an individual in the arts and sciences, business, and education and human services. The awards are presented during Alumni Days Weekend.
Lifetime Achievement Award
The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to an alumnus/a in recognition of lifelong career achievement and personal commitment in his/her field of endeavor for the benefit of the community and society. The recipient may not have already received the Distinguished Alumnus Award. The award is presented during Alumni Days Weekend.
Exceptional Service Award
The Exceptional Service Award is the Alumni Association’s highest honor. It is given to recognize and thank outstanding persons who have given unselfishly of their time and efforts for the betterment of Shippensburg University. The award, which may be presented to any person who is an alumnus or friend of the university, implies that the recipient has given him/herself to the university in a way that is extraordinary, going far beyond what could be expected of the person. The award is presented at SU Night during Alumni Days Weekend.
