Continuing its support and meeting university needs, the Shippensburg University Foundation celebrated the completion of the new conference center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 19. Interim President Jody Harpster noted, “The construction of this facility is yet another way the SU Foundation has responded to a need within the university, and the new conference center is undoubtedly a wonderful asset to this campus.” While the center does house the foundation offices, it is primarily space for meetings and conferences. The facility will allow the Office of Camps and Conferences to schedule events throughout the year in addition to the already busy summer months. The new center also provides additional faculty office and classroom space as the various buildings are closed temporarily while renovations are being done. Currently the exercise science department is in the new center until it can return to its home in Henderson Gymnasium. Recently, thanks to the efforts of our legislators, government funds were allotted to assist in the planning, feasibility design, and possible construction of a banquet facility which would further enhance the assets of the conference center.
