The Collegiate Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) honored retired sports information director, John Alosi ’94M (left), with a lifetime achievement award at their annual conference in July. In addition to family, there were a number of professionals who were former student workers or graduate assistants of John’s during his 34-year career at Ship in attendance.


SU is ranked sixth on the National Collegiate Scouting Association’s (NCSA) third annual Collegiate Power Rankings. The rankings list the top academic and athletic colleges/universities in the country at the NCAA Division II level.


Last season's gridiron standout, John Kuhn, gave Raider fans plenty of excitement this pre-season as the York native tried out for the Pittsburgh Steelers. John received plenty of playing time and scored the winning touchdown in the pre-season opener with the Philadelphia Eagles. Just before the start of the regular season, the Steelers cut John from their roster.

Jeff Michaels was named as the new associate director of athletics in July. He brings five years of experience to Shippensburg after serving as the assistant to the athletics director at Slippery Rock. While there, he organized and implemented all aspects of The Rock’s NCAA rules compliance and education program. He also assisted with advertising sales, corporate sponsorships, and other fundraising activities.


The Red Raider football team has two new assistant coaches.

Mark Luther (left) is in charge of the secondary. He comes to Ship with 14 years of experience including four as head coach at Lock Haven where he earned PSAC Coach of the Year honors in 2002.

The running backs are now under the direction of J.C. Morgan (right). J.C. began his coaching career as a running backs coach for youth football while he was a player in high school and spent last year as an assistant at Moravian College, a Div. III school.


The women’s soccer team, led by senior and leading goal scorer Nikki Kegerreis, was picked fifth in the PSAC West by the league’s coaches.


Dave Osanitsch ’92 was promoted to head track and field coach on July 11. He spent the previous three years as an assistant under head coach Steve Spence. Spence stepped down as track and field coach so he could focus on SU’s prominent cross-country program.


As the defending PSAC East champs, the Lady Raider volleyball team was picked third in the PSAC coach’s preseason poll. The squad returns two starters from last season and boast a talented freshman group that will contribute immediately.


The Lady Raider field hockey squad opened 2005 as the number one team in Division II National Coaches poll. Junior All-American Ashley Watt, who broke the school’s single-season goals record last year, leads a talent-laden roster that is looking for the program’s first-ever PSAC title.


While the men’s soccer squad was picked eighth in the preseason poll, sophomore Tyler Stanley (inset left) and junior goalkeeper Jon Humerick (right) should be key players to watch this season.
