Two off-duty university police officers Karl Schucholz and Jim Moyer are credited with saving the life of a local woman who was driving while in a diabetic trance. On the way home from work in mid-November, the two men observed a vehicle proceeding erratically down I-81. While Jim was driving, Karl used his cell phone to call State Police as they followed the distressed driver. Once they were able to urge her onto the median strip to a stop she was able to tell them she was diabetic. They were able to give her sugar cubes she had in her glove compartment for such an emergency. She quickly revived. Cytha Grissom, director of public safety, was proud of her two officers and their quick thinking.
