Campuses across the country were stunned by the tragedy at Virginia Tech and SU was no exception. The university quickly responded. In a letter to the campus community, President Ruud detailed university efforts in keeping our campus safe. He reminded everyone of the responsibility individuals have to aid these efforts.
A prayer walk that began at the Steam Plant parking lot on North Prince Street, ended at the Ceddia Union Building. Participants in the walk joined students, faculty, and staff for a vigil in support of the Virginia Tech community. Members of the campus community, including the president, spoke briefly at the event. The vigil ended with the building lit only by candles burning in memory of the lives lost.
Members of the Counseling Center and Campus Ministry were available in the CUB for those who wanted to talk about the tragedy.
