In October 2003 the Women’s Center planted purple tulips in remembrance of 157 Pennsylvanians who lost their lives in 2002 due to domestic violence. “While it is important to remember those lost, we want to celebrate those who get out of abusive domestic relationships,” said Nicolette Yevich, director of the Women’s Center. “I think the tulip signifies that by rising and blooming in the spring.”
