Taking the next step Shippensburg’s joint master’s of social work program has taken the next step toward national accreditation when the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) granted candidacy status to the program. The move is viewed as CSWE’s statement of support for the program’s development. Final approval is expected in the 2008-09 academic year. When granted, the accreditation will be retroactive to those students who enrolled in Fall 2006, meaning their degrees will be from an accredited program. This summer the program will accept applicants for advanced standing. The program is a joint venture with Millersville University. Information can be found at www.ship.edu/msw or by calling 717-477-1276.
The Great Depression and the years that followed are the subject of the SU Fashion Archives spring exhibit. Entitled “The 1930s: Prosperity Is Just Around the Corner,” the exhibit uses a number of items from the permanent collection to illustrate societal changes from that turbulent time in our history. The exhibit runs through August 2 at the Fashion Archives located in Harley Hall.
