Complete Signal Us or e-mail to alumni@ship.edu. 60-70s • 80s • 90s • 00s • In Memoriam 60s Judith Glenney Holman ’60, Jupiter, Fla., retired the first time after 30 years as a coordinator of special education in Delaware and the second time from a holding real estate company she ran with her husband Richard J. Holman ’61. Previously he retired from administrative assistant to four hospital directors. They now plan to travel. Dr. William N. Miller ’63, Tyrone, superintendent of the Tyrone Area School District, received a three-year contract extension effective July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2010. He is completing 43 years as a teacher and administrator, serving as the district’s superintendent since 1971. Dr. Jacob Kipp ’64, Lawrence, Kansas, retired as the director of the Foreign Military Studies Office at Ft. Leavenworth in September 2006; in October he became deputy director of the School for Advanced Military Studies also at Ft. Leavenworth. Dennis Newkirk ’69, Captain Cook, Hawaii, retired from 30 years of retail plant, landscape material, and fruit tree sales that included owning a six-acre orchard and fruit stand and winning the Kona Outdoor Circle Commercial Landscaping Award. Currently he owns and manages two island vacation rentals. 70s John Bolan ’71M-’75M, Bonita Springs, Fla., has opened an additional tax and accounting office in Estero, Florida. Dr. Judith Allen Brough ’71-’80M, Gardners, professor and chair of the Education Department at Gettysburg College co-authored two educational books: Teach Me, I Dare You and Lead Me, I Dare You that help teachers work with disengaged students and school leaders to understand and motivate reluctant colleagues. Robert J. Losik ’71M, Fair Oaks, Cal., following careers as teacher, employee advocate, and management negotiator, retired in January from mediator/conciliator for California. Daxel Tarner ’72, Burtonsville, Md., retired after teaching Earth, Space and Environmental Sciences for 34 years in Montgomery County. Currently he is the video editor for Discovery Channel Education and curriculum consultant for George Washington University/Montgomery County Schools.
Leroy Galloway ’75, Harrisburg, 7th-grade English teacher and head track & field coach since 1982 for Milton Hershey School, was selected Pa. Track Coach of the Year 2006 by NFTFA and inducted into the Penn Track Hall of Fame. He has coached 15 state championship teams over the past 24 years. Andrea Davis Addison ’76-’79M, Harrisburg, adult probation officer for Dauphin County/Harrisburg, works at the work release center in Steelton. Dr. Joseph H. Clapper ’78-’84M, Sewickley, is superintendent for the Quaker Valley School District. Barbara Schmit ’78, Tustin, Cal., was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame Tubby AllenChet Rogowicz Chapter in October 2006. |
