Construction Update
Over the semester break, the English, history, and human communications departments were relocated to Gilbert, Wright, and the faculty office building while Dauphin Humanities is prepared for renovations.
The majority of renovations involve the building’s plumbing, heating, and electrical including preparing classrooms for wireless capability. Bathrooms, elevators, and lecture halls will address handicap access in addition to upgrades to the facilities.
The most visible change to Dauphin will be a minor addition that will include a student lounge, the department offices, and relocation of the dean of arts and sciences from Old Main. Parking will be added between Grove and Dauphin/MCT and the entire area will have new lighting and walkways.
Other projects on campus have met with some delays. Starbucks in the library and Chik-fil-A in the CUB are expected to be open this fall. Construction on the student rec center was delayed with the opening now set for late this year or early in 2008.

The new “bump-out” on the east side of Dauphin will be the new home of the Office of the College of Arts & Sciences as well as the department offices for English, history/philosophy, and human communications. Most of the renovations will be behind the scenes.
Slowly but surely the student fitness center moves towards a completion date in late 2007 or early 2008.
