One of the members of WICS, Logan Kennedy is checking the website that has visitors viewing podcasts, interacting with WICS, and making comments.

It started as a way to get more women interested in computer science. Now people who just want to understand more about technology are tuning in. What they are tuning to are podcasts created by Sara Joseph and her fellow computer science majors Charmagne Kennedy, Elizabeth Jones, Logan Kennedy, Natasha Gunasekara, and Tina Bledsoe, otherwise known as Women in Computer Science (WICS).

The current podcasts cover topics such as how barcodes work, malware explained, MySpace searching, and encryption processes. In addition to the podcasts, WICS has a companion website (clipper.ship.edu/~wics) that allows visitors to comment.

While their efforts have expanded beyond the initial young women in high school, Sara says, “The community of women we have formed has been our biggest success so far.”
