University students reach out to high school students at Shippensburg Area High School through events, programs, and activities so that they think beyond high school and explore the many options that are open to them.

A team of administrators, faculty, and staff at both institutions devised the SHIP to SHIP Mentoring Program. A federally-funded grant through AmeriCorps Volunteers in Service to America enabled the program to be implemented.

Community service with students interacting with the community is an integral part of the program. For their first project, the students worked at the Locust Grove Cemetery. There they cleaned tombstones, landscaped, and removed garbage.
