System Notes

After Judy Hample’s announcement last June of her plans to step down effective July 1, 2008 as the chancellor of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, plans got underway to find her replacement. According to Kenn Marshall, system spokesperson, the search process is on track and could be concluded in May with the new chancellor starting on July 1. In early March, it was announced Hample will be the new president of Mary Washington University located in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Hample has served as head of PASSHE since August 2001.

We volunteer

In an effort to provide the public, especially prospective students and their families, with more information on universities and how they operate, the fourteen PASSHE universities are participating in a national program this spring as part of the Voluntary System of Accountability (VSA). Each university, including Shippensburg, will have the information on their website by early spring. It will also be accessible through the VSA website. The goal is to make information on accountability, stewardship, educational outcomes, and effective educational practices at public colleges and universities available in ways that are understandable, accessible, and comparable. The PASSHE universities are more than ready as the system already has a comprehensive accountability program in place. PASSHE was one of the first university systems to sign up to participate in the new program.
