The Dozen Dear Editorial Staff, Forty years after graduating from Shippensburg University, twelve members of the “1969 SSC Dozen” awaited the arrival of the Winter 2009 issue of Shippensburg University Magazine. So, April 26, we all anxiously perused our magazines to see the “recent news for classnotes” items in the Ship’s Log. After checking through the magazine several times and copiously spilling our tears on the cover, we realized our tiny article about meeting in Hanover for lunch on November 12 and our humble photo were not published. The Dozen (11 of the 12 of us) met again at Bentleys at the Barn on Wednesday, May 22but we see no photograph and no article. Alas, we are all in our sixties, un-photogenic and un-newsworthy. All twelve of us are hoping to live until the publication of the Spring 2009 issue. Sadly forgotten by our dear old Alma Mater, The 1969 SSC Dozen Editor’s Note: The Dozen are not forgotten. The photo was submitted after the deadline for the winter issue. The photo is in Ship’s Log, on page 42. The editor hopes all survived the wait and will consider sending news of their exploits once again to the magazine. Custer missed Dear Editor, Thank you for featuring Elizabeth Custer in the “Down by the Sea” article. I was blessed to have classes with her several times during my undergraduate career at Ship. She stands out as being an outstanding professor. Her Art of the Film class really rocked! Thanks for the memories. Sandra (Kell) Kendall ’73-’78 Editor’s Note: Elizabeth quietly passed away in February. One of her last bequests was the establishment of a scholarship fund. Those interested in donating can contact the SU Foundation (717-477-1377 or visit www.sufoundation.org).
Letters Welcome: We encourage letters to the editor involving issues on articles or topics, the university, or those of general interest to our readership. Letters should be no longer than 400 words and may be edited for length and clarity. Unsigned letters will not be published. |
