When Al Mason, Jr. ‘61, Shippensburg, communication/journalism professor emeritus, received the Ernest R. McDowell Award for Excellence in Public Relations from the Pennsylvania Public Relations Society he wasn’t the only Ship alum there. Friends and former students joined in congratulating Al on his award. Ronald Hoffer ’65, Huron, Ohio, retired from Silgan Plastics as director of operations after 27 years. Ronald and wife Elizabeth ’67 are celebrating the birth of their first grandson.

Douglas C. Stago ’66, Middletown, president of Swatara Township based K.R. MacDonald Inc., was elected director by Penn National Insurance of Harrisburg.

David L. Barner ’68, Mercer, chair of the Department of Communication Studies, Theatre, and Art at Westminster College, was promoted to professor of broadcast communications at Westminster College.

Patricia Kohl Koria ’69, Earleville, Md., arthritis aquatics instructor at the YMCA in Newark, Del., retired as a library media specialist after 38 years at the Etta J. Wilson School in the Christina School District in Newark. She is also a volunteer at the Cecilton Elementary School in Cecilton, Md.

Dennis Dinger ’72, Harrisburg, is chief financial officer at Graystone Bank of Harrisburg.

Bonita Gentry Hathcock ’72, Prospect, Ky., senior vice president and chief human resources officer for Humana Inc., was named 2007 HR Executive of the Year by HR Executive magazine.

Lee E. Weyant ’72, Breinigsville, is associate professor of management at Kutztown University.

Robert Cistolo ’73, Berea, Ohio, athletic director at Berea High School, retired after 35 years of teaching and coaching in the Berea City School District.

Barbara Murray Barron ’74-’78m, Everett, site director for Everett’s 21st Century After School program, recently retired after 33 years as Everett’s Elementary Librarian.

Stanley J. Costello Jr. ’74, Lansford, founder and president/CEO of All Staffing, Inc., became executive vice president of sales and marketing for Dalrada Financial, which acquired All Staffing in 2006. He is a new board member of Dalrada. He founded All Staffing in 1991 and grew the company to more than $100 million in sales.

William Shoemaker ’74m, Gettysburg, retires as superintendent of Bermudian Springs School District effective April 1, 2008.

Steven DiDomenico ’75, Carlisle, budget analyst, retired after 32 years with the Department of the Army at Carlisle Barracks and is back playing music.

Randall L. Hartman ’75-’82m, State College, left his law practice and faculty position at Methodist University in North Carolina for a professor of accounting position at Lock Haven University.

Beth Miller Kochenour ’75, Windsor, is assistant director of MR Services at Bell Socialization Services in York.

Allan Thomas ’76, Yeadon, received the College of Science and Technology Distinguished Teaching Award at Temple University.

Paul M. Healey ’78-’82m, Mechanicsburg, was unanimously approved as superintendent for Bermudian Springs School District effective April 2008.

John R. Sallade ’78-’79m, Harrisburg, managing director, Insurance Programs for the County Commissioners Association of Pa., was elected president of the Association of Intergovernmental Risk Pools, a national association of public entity risk pools. He is proud of son Nick who graduated from Ship in May.

Rick Witwer ’78, Harrisburg, is vice president and commercial loan officer at Mid Penn Bank.

Allan Thrush ’79m, Elizabethtown, retired as superintendent after 10 years with Elizabethtown School District.

Thompson “Tim” Young ’79, Mechanicsburg, is director of the Bureau of Business Trust Fund Taxes and responsible for administering sales and use tax, employer withholding tax and other business taxes for the Commonwealth.
