Their performances have been described as falling somewhere between the seriousness of the samurai and the crazed exhibitionism of heavy-metal rock drummers. In orchestrated movements across the stage and around drums of various sizes, members of Yamato demonstrate incredible skill on their traditional drums. Prior to their evening performance, the drummers took time from their busy schedule to conduct a workshop for members of the campus community. Fans of all ages enjoyed a hands-on approach while learning more about the culture and traditions behind Japanese drumming. Yamato, in the middle of its fourth U.S. tour, performed at the Luhrs Center in mid-November.
