Once the final tally was in, Ship showed fall enrollment hit a new high at 6,621 undergraduate and 1,144 graduate students. Almost two hundred undergraduates and fifty-one graduate students were added to the rolls. The undergraduate total is the highest in SU history while the graduate total is the second highest ever.
Ship is one of nine universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education that posted record enrollments. It is the eleventh consecutive year PASSHE reported increased enrollments across the system.
Tom Speakman, dean of enrollment management, sees it as a larger pool of qualified applicants rather than a larger applicant pool. He credits teamwork with helping the recruiting and retention efforts of the university.
