It was senior recognition day for the Red Raider marching band. As seniors came forward during halftime to be recognized there was a tingle of excitement in the air. When low bass section leader Heather Bruno stepped forward, things changed. Her boyfriend and band alumnus, Jason Mleczko ’07 crossed the field, went down on one knee at the 50-yard line, and asked Heather to be his wife. Happy tears followed including some from fellow band mates and band director Trever Famulare who was instrumental in planning the event. That the two were fated to meet might not be an exaggeration. As a high school senior, Heather toured campus and part of her tour included Jason’s Lackhove Hall room. The rest is history.
